Part-Time Maths Teacher (Weekend Role, School Term Times)
at the School for Young People -Star Mandarin School

We are seeking enthusiastic Maths teachers to join our Saturday teaching team, with opportunities to teach at either Primary or Secondary school levels. 

No formal teaching qualification is required: training and guidance will be provided. 

This role offers 2–4 hours of paid teaching per week and requires availability during UK school term time (6th September 2025 to 12th July 2026).

Open to all and ideal for university students looking to gain valuable experience, develop transferable skills in communication and leadership, and make a meaningful impact on young learners. 


Role Location: Star Mandarin School (Saturday), Bartolome House, School of Law, Winter Street, 91直播 S3 7ND
Committed Working Hours: 2-4 hours per week, Saturdays during school term time, from 6th September 2025 to 12th July 2026
Pay: University Grade 6.1 (includes holiday pay and additional time for lesson preparation)

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver Maths lessons based on the national curriculum and provided study programmes.
  • Prepare teaching materials and adapt lessons to suit varying student needs.
  • Facilitate effective learning through class teaching, group work, and homework support.
  • Record and maintain attendance via class registers.
  • Foster a positive, engaging, and respectful learning environment.
  • Promote good behaviour and apply appropriate discipline as outlined in the School's Handbook.
  • Monitor and report on students’ academic progress, wellbeing, and any safeguarding concerns.
  • Liaise with parents and attend scheduled parents’ meetings.
  • Maintain safety in the classroom and act as a fire marshal during drills or emergencies.
  • Follow all safeguarding procedures and school policies.

Training and Compliance

  • Attend job induction and complete online Safeguarding Children training.
  • Pass an enhanced DBS check.
  • Keep up-to-date with University Mandatory Training requirements.

Essential Skills and Attributes

  • Solid understanding of the UK Mathematics curriculum and follow school study programmes.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and self-motivated.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with students and parents.

We are seeking enthusiastic and committed Mandarin Chinese teachers to join our Saturday teaching team at Star Mandarin School. You will have the opportunity to teach learners ranging from beginners to advanced, school-age children.

No formal teaching qualification is required — full training and ongoing guidance will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging Mandarin lessons based on the school’s curriculum and study programmes.
  • Prepare and adapt teaching materials to suit a range of learner needs and abilities.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods including class instruction, group activities, and homework support.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records using class registers.
  • Foster a respectful, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
  • Encourage good behaviour and apply classroom discipline as outlined in the School Handbook.
  • Monitor students’ academic progress and wellbeing; report safeguarding concerns as appropriate.
  • Communicate with parents and attend scheduled parent meetings.
  • Ensure classroom safety and act as a fire marshal during drills or emergencies.
  • Follow all safeguarding procedures and adhere to school and university policies.

Training & Compliance

  • Attend a job induction and complete online Safeguarding Children training.
  • Obtain an enhanced DBS check (required for the role).
  • Complete University Mandatory Training as necessary.
